Edc very high lumen flashlight1/15/2024 ![]() ![]() There are loads of brands out there that do one or all of these things that make a great flashlight, but Zebralight basically does all of them and puts it together in a nice compact package that just makes them a real joy to carry. Many, many brands out there use cool white color temperature and low CRI emitters which means you get a very blueish white beam that makes everything look dull and flat, and a more neutral color temperature with a high CRI rating that accurately shows colors is much nicer to look at. ![]() They also use pretty decent emitters with above average CRI (color rendering index) which is something you might not have ever thought about but once you see it, it's really hard to go back. What makes Zebralights so good is that they're very compact for their battery size, have very efficient drivers that can sustain brightness levels pretty well, a good interface, a wide variety of user-configurable modes (including extremely low moonlight levels which is surprisingly useful), and excellent build quality with potted components. You can get lights that are equally bright or brighter than that for cheaper. I’ve looked at the plight baton 3 and an ace beam tk16, both look decent and claim to have good output and are both small, I think the acebeam claims 45 minutes on turbo but I’m guessing it’s more like 2 minutes, which makes me wonder if their claims are all BS, any 4 inch or under 1000 plus you guys would recommend, something that can clip into a pocket and not feel like a brick, good throw is also a bonus as I walk my dog in a wooded area at night where it’s pitch black and often times run into other critters mostly skunks and occasionally coyotes.įigure I’d ask here as seems everyone knows their stuff, I’m sure it will just send me down a rabbit hole and turn into buying more and more like how my pocket knives started years ago lol. ![]() It’s decent and good for work and a good size at a tad over 4 inches but I would like something a bit brighter with more throw (1000 or above) that I can use as an EDC that looks decent as well, I am a knife guy and carry either an aluminum scale m390 steel benchmade (535-4) or my 940-1 (carbon fiber scaled and s90v blade) and I’d like something a bit nicer to go along with that.
